Community reboot re-energizes the largest network of senior Technology executives in Southern California.

Situation

The original LA CTO Forum as created by Tony Karrer and Oded Noy consisted of a monthly meetup and a one-way mailing list from the organizers to the community. Tony and Oded wanted to expand the level of community support and increase the activity of the group’s members.

Findings

The LA CTO Forum relied on out of date functionality to support the community. Additionally, there was no centralized online community even though there had been significant advances in online community management and support.

Action

After researching the available community management tools, FreelanceCTO worked with Tony and Oded to quickly build and launch a Ning-based community and a LinkedIn group.

Result

Overnight, a new iteration of the community was launched, and the group was able to easily scale up and down community features and support for minimal cost. Membership ballooned from under 100 CTOs in network to well over 150 CTOs in network. FreelanceCTO is an active leader and organizer in this community.
